ICTPH Rural Micro Health Centre (RMHC) Launch
Sugha Vazhvu Health Care Pvt. Ltd. (SVHCPL) launched its first rural health centre at Alakkudi village in the Thanjavur block. Focused on innovating and piloting equitable health systems, SVHCPL partnered with the IKP Centre for Technologies in Public Health (ICTPH) in this endeavor. The inauguration was conducted by Mr. M. Ramarethinam, the president of Alakkudi.

ICTPH Health Outreach - Nala Oli Program Launch
IKP Centre for Technologies in Public Health (ICTPH) launched their community outreach program 'Nala Oli' across three villages in the Tanjore district- namely Karambayam, Allakudi and Nattuchalai. The program was inaugurated by Mr. M. S. Shanmugam, Collector, Tanjore District.

NP Workshop on Alternative Human Resources for Health : Innovative models for improving primary healthcare
ICTPH has been working on alternative human resources in health. Through this workshop, ICTPH created a unique opportunity for healthcare experts across India to meet and discuss alternative human resources with a focus on preventive and primary healthcare in the country. The worskop was directed towards exploring the different possibilities for task shifting from doctors to other qualified healthcare professionals, and arriving at a consensus amongst different stakeholders on solutions to various healthcare challenges, leading to the creation of an Alternative Care Model for Healthcare delivery in India , and more importantly, a forum which brings together professionals in the field who can work in the future on a set of common goals and convert their efforts into a sustainable solution.

ICTPH Partnership with University of Pennsylvania, School of Nursing to enhance rural health
A MOU was signed between IKP Centre for Technologies in Public Health (ICTPH) and University of Pennsylvania School of Nursing (UPSoN), on January 6th, 2009. This year long collaboration primarily intends to improve access to health care in rural areas by establishing a nurse managed health kiosk system, in rural Tamil Nadu. The two institutes will work in close association through the year, combining their individual knowledge bases to develop this Advanced Practice Nursing kiosk model.
