Assistant Vice President - Epidemiology
Job Description:
- Technical involvement in epidemiological studies of data collected from the pilot sites, interpretation and analysis of data, identifying the need for data on existing or emerging public health issues, designing and implementing data collection whenever necessary, preparation of manuscripts and reports for publications in peer reviewed journals and presentations at international conferences.
- Responsible for designing, monitoring and evaluating preventable-promotive health care strategies.
- An integral part of the core team of professionals that serves as the primary source for epidemiological expertise to the Centre and help identify the need for public health related community interventions that are relevant for the local population.
- The position will be based out of Chennai but will require 10-20% travel, primarily in rural Tamil Nadu, India.
Skill Set / Educational Requirements:
- Minimum Master's degree (PhD degree preferred) in epidemiology, biostatistics or a related field and at least two years of experience in research analysis (including graduate research) required
- Knowledge of statistical software (SAS, STATA, Epi Info, etc.) and PC applications (e.g., MS Word and Excel)
- Broad technical competence in health related research
- Experience in carrying out applied research in developing country settings
- Demonstrated ability to develop and implement new projects
- Demonstrated ability to work independently
- Demonstrated leadership potential, resourcefulness, and intellectual creativity
- Demonstrated organizational and analytical skills, and strong verbal, written and interpersonal communication skills
